Depending on how busy it is, our property managers will often offer discounts on our homes. They typically do this during the less popular times of year. Obviously weekends and holidays are going to be popular, while weekdays and the off-season are going to be far less popular. The busiest seasons for both Lake Havasu and for Big Bear Lake are the Summer and the Winter. Spring and Fall tend to be fairly quiet in both places. Some people actually prefer these quieter times of year because they offer a better value.
Smart travelers will enjoy Lake Havasu during the Spring and the Fall. Though the water temperature is a bit cooler, it's still very nice. The air temperature is also a bit cooler during these seasons, making for a nice climate in general. During the warm summer months, you can enjoy the less crowded weekdays. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing time on the lake, then you should definitely consider weekday and off-season rental. In addition to water sports activities, don't forget that Lake Havasu has great golf courses, off-roading, shopping, fishing, etc.
For Big Bear, our favorite time of year is Spring. Generally, you can find a time during the Spring when there's still plenty of snow, but when most of the crowd is already "skied out". We've also found that the softer Spring snow is much more forgiving than the hard snow that can sometimes occur during the colder Winter months. In fact, many of our friends have begun referring to the Spring as "ego season", claiming that it improves their skiing and snowboarding abilities. Of course, it helps that the air is warmer, so you're wearing less clothing. Also, don't forget that Big Bear has great golfing, hiking, horse-back riding, fishing, off-roading, shopping, etc.
